PHI was founded in 2006 as an active herpetological None Governmental Organization and its key objectives are conservation and identification of Iran’s native reptiles and amphibians also promotion of local people knowledge on the importance of endangered species. Being informed of the lack of information on reptiles and amphibians in Iran and their considerable diversity in the country, the young but professional researchers of the PHI are engaged in the cooperative conservation programs of the endangered species and habitats, study the distribution of various species of reptiles and amphibians in Iran, cooperation with the general bureaus of environment in different provinces, discovery and description of new species, report the presence of several species from new regions.
