Edmonton Opera
Founded in 1963, Edmonton Opera is committed to producing powerful performances that honour tradition, explore boundaries, and embrace the evolution of opera. Our vision is to create art and experiences that resonate beyond communities. We believe opera is more than performance—it is a space for imagination, cultural reflection, and human connection. In today’s world, where diverse communities seek common ground and future generations look for spaces to be heard, the arts remain vital. They offer beauty, perspective, and the ability to shape joyful, inclusive communities. Opera is not static. It has always evolved to reflect the cultural, political, and philosophical themes of its time. Edmonton Opera celebrates its rich history while boldly shaping a future in which opera is accessible, relevant, and transformative. Through mainstage productions, emerging artist development, and community-driven programming, we aim to ensure opera continues to inspire and reflect the world around us. We also recognize that the arts have measurable social and economic value. Each season, Edmonton Opera contributes over $3 million in regional economic activity and employs more than 100 full-time, part-time, and contract staff. We work with over 100 private-sector vendors and attract more than patrons annually—generating additional activity across hospitality and tourism sectors. Our work is made possible through the support of dedicated patrons, artists, donors, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Together, we create experiences that last far beyond the final curtain.
