The Institute for Labor and Employment Studies (ILES) was established by the Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU). Its establishment stemmed from BOPEU’s ambition to capacitate its members and the general workforce on topical labour and employment related issues through education and training. OUR VISION Contributing to enhancing quality life of the workers. OUR MISSION Empower Batswana workers through research, information, advocacy and knowledge. The Institute’s strategic intent is anchored around four themes, namely: Education and Training; Research and Development; Negotiations and Social dialogue skills; and Community Outreach and Civic Society Engagement. The strategic goals of the Institute derives from the above-mentioned themes. Some of the goals of the Institute include, inter alia: promotion of workers skills and competencies through education and training in all areas of need during their working lives, equipping workers and other stakeholders through research and information management to effectively participate in social dialogue and negotiations with employers and other social partners at national and international levels.
