Amini Centre For Policy Research Acpr
Amini is a Kiswahili word that means believe. The think tank is built on the ethos that change is created by a people that believe. We adhere to the aforementioned mantra to achieve our vision: we aspire to be the focal point of youth led policy research in Africa.’ Amini Centre for Policy Research aims at providing policy analysis and research on issues pertaining and not limited to International Relations, Development and Electoral Analysis. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation released a report in 2018 which tracks the performance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The report stated that “by 2050 Africa’s young population, i.e, those aged between 0 and 24 years old will increase by nearly 50 percent. In 2050 the continent will have the largest number of young people in the world.” These numbers show us two things:(i) The future is young (ii) The future is African. The young people in Africa must be the drivers in the planning and policy making of a world they expect to live in by 2050. We understand that they are many youths led policy making institutions across the globe working to achieve these objectives, our mandate is to work with them and not against them. We are living in a time where the internet through social media is wiping out positive news analysis. Social trends triumph the real stories. Everyone wants to break the news and few tabloids focus on breaking down the news. ACPR aims to be part of the latter by providing excellent policy analysis and research.
