Kupsie Ink

Kupsie works to empower fashion entrepreneurs to grow their bespoke fashion businesses in Kenya. Usually run as sole proprietorships, this profession is in the hard-to-tax sector of the economy due to its informal nature. Made to order clothing is a cultural phenomenon in Africa. The neighborhood tailor is as essential as the grocer or barber. However, a visit to a tailor is a game of chance, and the odds are rarely in your favor. The tailors in Kenya are infamous, everybody has a tailor story and it’s seldom a good one. Their reputation being that they never deliver goods as promised- often riddled with untimely delivery or poor quality. I have accrued a closet full of clothes that were made for me or bespoke; about 65% of them were defective in one way or another. Kupsie aims to improve the quality and delivery of bespoke products by investing directly and partnering with tailors. We provide the equipment, training and marketing platforms and thus increase productivity and returns.
