Telecentar

Telecentar, a Croatian non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2005, focuses on digital inclusion, digital competence development, media literacy, and multimedia production. Between 2005 and 2008, Telecentar began producing films and videos, including two promotional films for the Croatian Tourist Board. Notably, film “Croatia Homeland of Marco Polo” was showcased at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and “Croatian Flower Garden” promoted Saint Martin on Mura in the European Destinations of Excellence competition. In 2009, Telecentar co-founded ALL DIGITAL, an international organization based in Brussels, bringing together more than 100 members from 28 countries. This membership enhanced international collaboration and provided insights into European public policies. From 2012 to 2023, Telecentar has participated in 15 EU-funded projects with 43 Croatian and 26 European partners across 17 countries. Telecentars’ contributions to media literacy were recognized in global forums, including UNESCO's Forum on Media and Information Literacy (2014) and the European Commission’s Media Literacy Conference (2019). The projects were presented as good practices at the Media Literacy conference of the 3L Platform in Brussels (2015) and the Council of Europe’s Report on the Mapping of Media Literacy practice and action in the EU-28 (2016). Since 2020, Telecentar has coordinated the Croatian Digital Literacy Network, aiming to enhance cross-sector cooperation and develop research-based policies on digital inclusion, education, and the digital transformation of non-IT professions. The network has published 16 scientific articles and 8 policy guidelines, which have been integrated into key national and regional strategies such as the Croatian Digital Strategy 2032 and the Action Plan for the Development of Education 2027.
