ALFREDO DE LA FÉ REVIEW ALFREDO DE LA FÉ, Cuban-American and of Colombian nationality, with more than 55 years in music, is a music producer, the first violin soloist of salsa and Latin Jazz in the world, a member of the legendary Fania All Stars, forerunner of the electric violin and musical director of the orchestra of his godmother Celia Cruz and the great Tito Puente. He participated, collaborated and directed more than a hundred productions with artists such as: Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespi, Carlos Santana, Vangelis, Papo Lucca, Ismael Miranda, Larry Harlow and Cachao among others, in addition to being an image musician, film and television. The life of Alfredo De La Fé is an incredible journey through the history of Latin music. He was born in Cuba and grew up in New York but his heart is distinctly Colombian and since 1992 he carries the citizenship of that country with pride. He began his studies at the “Amadeo Roldan” conservatory in Havana, at the age of eight. Two years later he was given a scholarship to study at the Warsaw Conservatory in Poland. At the age of eleven he moved to New York City and was awarded a scholarship, again, by the Juilliard school where he graduated in violin. At the same age he began to play with Jose Fajardo, considered the best flutist of Cuban music and months later he abandoned his classical career to dedicate himself to salsa, thus becoming a world-renowned figure in this genre. He studied at the "Actor Studio" with Lee Strasberg for a year, incorporating what he learned into his musical proposal on stage. Outstanding soloist with legends such as: Celia Cruz (her godmother), Carlos Santana, Eddie Palmieri, Las Estrellas de Fania and many more. Alfredo De La Fé crosses time and space from his classical roots in Cuba to the urban music of New York.
