Pelech High School For Girls, Jerusalem

The Pelech Religious Experimental High School for Girls was officially founded in 1967 by two teachers Rabbi Shalom and Penina Rosenbluth. It opened with just 12 girls learning in a small apartment. From 1975 to 1990, the school developed under the Professor Alice Shalvi's guidance. For two decades, principal Shira Breuer, has established Pelech as one of the top 10 high schools in the country, by matriculation ("Bagrut") results, in addition to its vibrant social atmosphere. Pelech is a semi-private school, partially supported by the Education Ministry. Pelech Today - 270 students from 9th - 12th grades - 2011/2012 - new Junior High to open ("Hativat Beinayim")- 8 comprehensive classes with 30 students per class - Special education class - 5%- 10% new immigrants Electives (in addition to core educational courses): Talmud, Tanach, History, Literature, Art, Music, Theater, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Arabic, Yiddish, French, Eretz Yisrael Studies, Movie Studies
