Established in June 2003, the National Institutes of Applied Research (NIAR) oversees seven national research centers equipped with advanced hardware and software, providing R&D platform services to industry, government, academia, and research institutions. Whether in environmental technology, information and communication technology, artificial intelligence(AI), biomedical technology, or technology policy, NIAR ensures that researchers have access to the essential R&D platforms and technical support they need. NIAR's four core missions are to establish R&D platforms, support academic research, promote frontier science and technology, and cultivate high-tech talent. By offering a diverse range of R&D service platforms, NIAR facilitates cutting-edge scientific research across domestic industry, government, academia, and research sectors. Through these efforts, NIAR supports the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) in advancing national scientific and technological development.
