Altilium Group Ltd
Altilium is a global leader in innovative hydrometallurgy with a mission to deliver the highest possible extractions of critical metals, efficiently and profitably. Crucially, all process flowsheets developed by Altilium share one key feature - NO WASTE! Altilium’s patented technology uses nitric acid to extract all the metals present in the feed. Nitric acid is extremely efficient at dissolving metals into solution. 99% of the acid employed is recovered and reused and, by extracting all the metals, the mass of the feed is reduced to leave just the silicate component (with some trace nitrate compounds). Altilium currently has four flowsheets- Altilium Ni Laterite Process™ - already in definitive feasibility study- Altilium Bauxite Process™ - test work under way- Altilium Red Mud Process™ - optimization work under way; and - Altilium Ti/REE Process™ - test work under way. Recent achievements include- The highest rare earth extractions from an ore- Production of nickel/cobalt MHP containing over 50% of those metals- Production of a very high quality alumina containing 99.5% aluminium; and - Production of a high quality hematite containing ~68% iron. Competitive advantages of Altilium’s Technology are- A zero-waste process so no tailings dams required- Produces an inert residue which contains trace amounts of nitrates (rendering the residue a weak fertiliser) which can help site rehabilitation- Efficiently extracts metals from ores and certain mine and process wastes- Employs nitric acid and recovers and reuses 99% of that acid- Extracts all available metals delivering more saleable products- Flexible, adaptable chemistry which is able to process all the ore in a mine or waste in a tailings storage facility.
