Officer School Of The German Army Offizierschule Des Heeres

The Army Officer School in Dresden is the central training institution for all officer candidates and officers of the Army, Army uniform wearers of the Joint Support Service, the Medical Service, and the Cyber and Information Space organization area. All future leaders of the German Army, from aspiring officers to experienced staff officers and aspiring battalion commanders, are trained and further educated here. Thus, the Officer School is the key training institution of the German Army, with the focus on the training of officer candidates to become officers. Under the motto "Serving in Freedom," the Officer School stands for the professional learning of military skills. It significantly contributes to the solid professional and ethical understanding of the future leaders and provides the young officer candidates with the intellectual orientation needed to prepare them for their responsible roles as leaders, educators, and instructors in the German Armed Forces. The offered courses and advanced training programs range from a few days to four months in duration. Lifelong learning is at the center: Future officers are trained in operational leadership (tactics), military law, political education, military history, sports, personnel management, social competence, and professional self-understanding. Through cadet exchange programs and bilateral cooperation, approximately 60 participants from different countries (such as Great Britain, France, Austria, Poland, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo) attend courses and training programs at the Army Officer School every year.
