About DCSN Discovery College Student News (DCSN) is the official student-led newspaper of Discovery College. We here at DCSN aim to educate DC students on contemporary global and local issues. We provide a platform for students to showcase their creative writing skills and nurture their passion for writing. Through developing unique and engaging content, we hope to arm our peers with relevant and accurate information which they can actively use in their academic and social lives. In addition to the role of writing, we also provide opportunities for students to contribute as editors, graphic designers, and photographers. Whether their responsibilities involve refining and enhancing written content or creating visually captivating graphics and stories, these positions offer a valuable medium for students to expand their artistic knowledge and skills. Collectively, we are able to foster a vibrant and collaborative environment where all students can nurture their passion for journalism while making a meaningful impact to Discovery College and their local community. Our Themes Every week, DCSN aims to publish content surrounding important topics relating to one of our five themes of Economy, Global Issues, Sustainability, Politics, Community. As our organisation expands, more relevant themes will be opened up, this includes Technology and Innovation, Arts and Culture, Health and Wellness, Science and Environment. Establishing themes for articles are crucial to provide a clear focus and direction, connecting to all types of IB and MYP relevant issues. Our Goal We strive to raise local and international awareness of global issues by giving our audience real-life examples of the concepts they learn in class. It is our aim to empower the readers with the knowledge and insights they need to participate and excel in their future studies, fostering a deeper engagement and enriching their educational journey.
