Founded in 1975, CKCU-FM was the first campus-based community radio station to broadcast on FM in Canada. For nearly 50 years, we have been a pioneer in independent media, amplifying diverse voices, connecting communities and providing access to stories and perspectives told by people and for people. Volunteer-driven and listener-supported, CKCU reflects the cultural diversity of Ottawa-Gatineau. We keep communities connected through music, conversation and culture you will not hear anywhere else. As a registered charity, CKCU is funded by donors, Carleton University students, sponsorships and residents who believe in the power of independent media. Together, we have built the largest listener-supported radio station in Ottawa-Carleton, and one of the most enduring voices in Canada’s media landscape.
