Greenant
Much of the current climate crisis is driven by the simple fact that, at the moment, sustainable practices are less profitable than non-sustainable ones. There is more financial incentive to mow down a forest and create flat, “productive” land than to protect its trees and its carbon absorption capacity. Similarly, smaller-scale farmers often cannot afford to tend to their land in an environmentally friendly way, and must turn to chemical pesticides or higher-profit crops that degrade the health of the soil. This is the basis of GreenAnt’s mission—to transform the health of an ecosystem (and the planet) into a valuable, profitable commodity. GreenAnt uses sophisticated satellite biomass data to create accessible tools and resources that generate returns for all stakeholders. Through our platform and marketplace, Desidera, users can tokenize their trees or purchase and trade these carbon-offsetting tree tokens. Tokenization transforms trees into protected assets with commercial (and not just environmental) value. Users can also purchase harvest risk assessment data and deforestation certificates that open up access to statutorily protected markets like the EU. Desidera allows users to engage with its interactive map to learn more about the environmental health of land around the world.
