The Balanced Dog Ltd

The Balanced Dog is a professional dog massage and natural healthcare practice based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The company started with a range of preservative-free dog treats and cakes as "Canine Catering Ltd" but over time, demand for its dog massage, laser, acupressure and nutrition/food therapy services grew and this demanded a re-brand in 2016. The company's principal therapist is Kathleen Crisley, with certifications in canine therapeutic, sports and senior dog massage; she became Fear-Free certified in 2018 making her the first canine massage and rehab practitioner in NZ to formally recognise Fear Free as a platform for her practice. Ms Crisley has also studied Pet Nutrition at Colorado State University and dog behaviour and training with Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. The practice is fully mobile - allowing dogs to be treated in the comfort of their own home. This also allows for observation of a dog's living environment and recommendations for home-based exercises and adjustments to manage specific health conditions. The company is independent of all veterinary practices and so is freely able to take referrals from across the region. Many clients come to the company directly for assistance, through word-of-mouth and through accessing the website, Instagramand Facebook pages. Food therapy consultations are undertaken with clients worldwide using phone and Skype.
