Mahila Jagat Lihaaz Samiti
The Mahila Jagat Lihaaz Samiti or Society for Respect for Women and Earth, also known by its acronym MAJLIS, which in turn means a collective, was formed by Dalit and Aadivasi women of Western Madhya Pradesh in 2016 to advance the two most neglected causes of women’s empowerment and conservation of the environment. Traditionally, Women have had to work more, they have been denied the right to inheritance of property, they have had to assume total responsibility for house work and the care of children and the elderly and this work is not counted as of being of any economic value, they have had to go underfed and have been subjected to domestic and external violence of the worst kind. As a consequence of this secondary status, women have to bear more babies to ensure that there are male progeny who will inherit the property and provide security in old age. Along with this, there is social control over the sexuality of women so that men can be assured that the children born to their wives are truly theirs and so ensure the purity of their descent. Naturally, all this affects adversely the lives and well being of women. Therefore, MAJLIS works to improve the situation of women by acting for their education, health and livelihoods. Women are also the primary care takers of the environment and as a consequence of their oppression, the environment too suffers due to over exploitation. So empowerment of women goes hand in hand with conservation of the environment and that is why sustainable agriculture, forest, soil and water conservation and renewable energy are also focus areas of the organisation. Establishment of a gender just, equitable and sustainable society through the collective action of women and men in rights based action and development work is the aim of MAJLIS focused on the well being of Adivasi and Dalit Communities in collaboration with two mass organisations Kansari nu Vadavno and Adivasi Ekta Parishad supported by external sympathisers.

Creativemornings Mumbai
Every month, 1500 volunteers in 65 countries host a free monthly breakfast speaker series for their local creative community. This happens in over 200 cities to an audience of attendees. We're lucky to have you. In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone. Today, attendees gather in cities around the world to enjoy fresh coffee, friendly people, and an international array of breakfast foods. Volunteer hosts and their team members organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals. The growing archive of past breakfast talks is humbling. From design legends to hometown heroes, speakers are selected by each chapter based on a global theme. CreativeMornings remains free thanks to the support of local sponsors, generous venues, and longterm partners. Anyone can attend. Just register beforehand to reserve your spot. And if you need a little help convincing your boss to let you attend, we’ve got you covered. Remember to set your alarm, and we’ll see you in the morning- OUR MANIFESTO Everyone is creative. A creative life requires bravery and action, honesty and hard work. We are here to support you, celebrate with you, and encourage you to make the things you love. We believe in the power of community. We believe in giving a damn. We believe in face-to-face connections, in learning from others, in hugs and high-fives. We bring together people who are driven by passion and purpose, confident that they will inspire one another, and inspire change in neighborhoods and cities around the world. Everyone is welcome.

About Us - The Khadija-Mariyam Foundation is a collective working towards women's empowerment by improving women's access to socio-psycho-legal services and investing in their spiritual and intellectual development. What We Do - The Khadija-Mariyam Foundation is working to build a women's community center in Kozhikode, India, and provides psycho-social and legal support to women in crisis. Community Centre - The community center aims to address the primary concerns of women by providing services such as a domestic violence shelter, legal aid, and a space for shared learning. Parallelly, the community center aims to address the challenges faced by Muslim women in particular, by providing an accessible prayer space, and space for spiritual development. Ongoing Work - The Khadija-Mariyam Foundation is a community-driven project responding to women's need for holistic development. We provide support to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of abuse through our network of counselors and lawyers. We also conduct events aimed at improving women's intellectual and spiritual knowledge, and providing an open forum for discussion and learning. What - A community-driven collective and charitable Trust working for the betterment of all women, primarily Muslim women Why - The socio-psycho-legal needs of women are inadequately addressed through existing institutions. Where these services exist, they are often inaccessible to women for reasons ranging from the social and structural to the practical and architectural. Kozhikode having a significant Muslim community, Muslim women in the area have highlighted their desire for a shared space for learning, prayer, and spiritual development. How - By developing an accessible and inclusive space for women regardless of their caste, class, or religion to share their ideas, learn, and access psycho-legal services, and centering women's agency in every aspect of our work.
