J&K opened its doors in August 1997 with its first store location in North Myrtle Beach. Since then we've expanded throughout the Grand Strand with 6 store locations from Little River to Murrells Inlet. We've also expanded to the Charleston market! J&K now has a full showroom in Mt Pleasant Belle Hall Shopping Center and we can't wait to help serve our newest clients in this market. Each store employs talented Interior Designers and Decorators as our sales employees to help each client ease the furniture and design shopping process. Lawson-Fenning is a true California brand. Our vintage-modern furniture and home goods translate the raw natural beauty of Southern California—the desert, the beach, the mountains—with a contemporary vernacular rooted in mid-century lines. We began our exploration when we were furniture design students at ArtCenter College in the late 1990s. Pasadena was a welcoming place: the area’s appreciation for a contemporary golden age of design and craft had been on point ever since Eudorah Moore’s 1960s/1970s California Design exhibitions; the vast Rose Bowl flea market still felt like undiscovered territory for 20th-century design pickers; and square footage for creatives wasn’t exorbitant. We took a studio space in Old Town Pasadena as our workshop, mostly to make new furniture, tinker and reimagine vintage pieces. To our surprise, people walked in off the street and purchased them. The store we called Rm.107 evolved, almost by accident. We’ve been in business ever since. Glenn Lawson + Grant Fenning = Lawson-Fenning. Nineteen years later, we’re still hunting for and dreaming up the pieces we love, albeit on a larger retail scale: a two-story Melrose Avenue flagship and a separate LF workshop where we craft our furniture. We keep our inventory moving so we can build an idea, discover new artists, and see collaborations through. As a result, our showrooms never quite look the same from day to day. After all, a home is a dynamic space that ought never collect dust.
