Directorate of Women and Child Development was formed in Madhya Pradesh on August 15, 1986 and all schemes related to women and children were transferred from the Tribal Welfare Department and the Panchayat and Social Welfare Department to this Directorate. Initially, this Directorate was under the administrative control of Panchayat and Rural Development Department and in the year 1988, Women and Child Development Department was formed separately. ESIC was established in the year 1952 with an aim towards providing better healthcare and medical facilities to Insured Persons and their family members. Under the ESI Scheme, it is providing a number of benefits & services, promising timely healthcare and financial support for Insured Workers. The benefits under the ESI Scheme are as follows: a. Medical Benefit: Full medical care is provided to an IP and his family members from the day he enters insurable employment. There is no ceiling on expenditure on the treatment of an IP or his family member. Medical care is also provided to retired & permanently disabled insured persons and their spouses on payment of a token annual premium of Rs.120/. b. Sickness Benefit: Sickness Benefit in the form of cash compensation at the rate of 70% of wages is payable to insured workers during the periods of certified sickness for a maximum of 91 days in a year. In order to qualify for Sickness Benefit, the IP is required to contribute for 78 days in a contribution period of 6 months. c. Disablement Benefit – (i) Temporary Disablement Benefit: From day one of entering insurable employment & irrespective of having paid any contribution in case of employment injury. Temporary Disablement Benefit at the rate of 90% of wage is payable as long as disability continues.(ii) Permanent disablement benefit: The benefit is paid at the rate of 90% of wage in the form of monthly payment depending upon the extent of loss of earning capacity as certified by a Medical Board. d. Dependants’ Benefit: DB paid at the rate of 90% of wage in the form of monthly payment to the dependants’ of a deceased Insured person in cases where death occurs due to employment injury or occupational hazards. e. Maternity Benefit: Maternity Benefit for confinement/pregnancy is payable for 26 weeks, which is extendable by further 1 month on medical advice at the rate of full wage subject to contribution for 70 days in the preceding two Contribution Periods.

The Project Sardar Sarovar Dam The Sardar Sarovar Project is one of the largest water resources project of India covering four major states - Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Dam's spillway discharging capacity (30.7 lakhs cusecs) would be third highest in the world. With 1133 cumecs cusecs) capacity at the head regulator, and 532 km. length, the Narmada Main Canal would be the largest irrigation canal in the world. Sardar Sarovar Dam The dam will be the third highest concrete dam (163 meters) in India, the first two being Bhakra (226 metres) in Himachal Pradesh and Lakhwar (192 meters) in Uttarakhand.In terms of the volume of concrete involved for gravity dams, this dam will be ranking as the second largest in the world with an aggregate volume of 6.82 million cu.m. The first is Grand Coule Dam in USA with a total volume of 8.0 million cu.m. This dam with its spillway discharging capacity of cumecs (30 lakh cusec), will be the third in the world, Gazenba (1.13 lac cumecs) in China and Tucurri (1.0 lac cumecs) in Brazil being the first two. THE RESERVOIR: The reservoir would occupy an area of ha. and would have a linear stretch of 214 kilometer of water and an average width of 1.77 kilometer. The Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of the Sardar Sarovar Dam is fixed at RL 138.68 metres (455 feet). The Maximum Water Level is 140.21 metres (460 feet.) while minimum draw down level is 110.64 metres (363 feet.). The normal tail water level is 25.91 metres (85 feet.).

Central Water Commission
Central Water Commission is a premier Technical Organization of India in the field of Water Resources and is presently functioning as an attached office of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India. The Commission is entrusted with the general responsibilities of initiating, coordinating and furthering in consultation of the State Governments concerned, schemes for control, conservation and utilization of water resources throughout the country, for purpose of Flood Control, Irrigation, Navigation, Drinking Water Supply and Water Power Development. It also undertakes the investigations, construction and execution of any such schemes as required. Central Water Commission CWC is headed by a Chairman, with the status of Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government of India. The work of the Commission is divided among 3 wings namely, Designs and Research (D&R) Wing, River Management (RM) Wing and Water Planning and Projects (WP & P) Wing. Each wing is placed under the charge of a full-time Member with the status of Ex-Officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India and comprising of number of Organizations responsible for the disposal of tasks and duties falling within their assigned scope of functions. A separate Human Resources Management Unit headed by a Chief Engineer, deals with Human Resources Management or Development, Financial Management, Training and Administrative matters of the CWC. National Water Academy located at Pune is responsible for training of Central and State in-service engineers and it functions directly under the guidance of Chairman. Altogether there are Nineteen organizations located at headquarters in New Delhi and thirteen organizations spread over various locations in India. Mission Statement: To promote integrated and sustainable development and management of India's Water Resources by using state-of-art technology and competency and coordinating all stake holders.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been established under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 which consolidates various acts & orders that have hitherto handled food related issues in various Ministries and Departments. FSSAI has been created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. Highlights of the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 Various central Acts like Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954, Fruit Products Order, 1955, Meat Food Products Order, 1973, Vegetable Oil Products (Control) Order, 1947,Edible Oils Packaging (Regulation)Order 1988, Solvent Extracted Oil, De- Oiled Meal and Edible Flour (Control) Order, 1967, Milk and Milk Products Order, 1992 etc will be repealed after commencement of FSS Act, 2006. The Act also aims to establish a single reference point for all matters relating to food safety and standards, by moving from multi- level, multi- departmental control to a single line of command. To this effect, the Act establishes an independent statutory authority – the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India with head office at Delhi. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the State Food Safety Authorities shall enforce various provisions of the Act. Establishment of the Authority: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India is the Administrative Ministry for the implementation of FSSAI. The Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of Food safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) have already been appointed by Government of India. The Chairperson is in the rank of Secretary to Government of India.

EVOLUTION OF NDMA The Government of India, in recognition of the importance of Disaster Management as a national priority, on 23 December 2005, enacted the Disaster Management Act, which envisaged the creation of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister to spearhead and implement a holistic and integrated approach to Disaster Management in India. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES NDMA as the apex body is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management to ensure timely and effective response to disasters. National Disaster Management Authority has been constituted with the Prime Minister of India as its Chairman, a Vice Chairman with the status of Cabinet Minister, and eight members with the status of Ministers of State. Each of the members has a well defined functional domain covering various states as also disaster specific areas of focus and concern. To carry out the mandated functions, NDMA has evolved a functional and operational infrastructure. The concept of the organization is based on a disaster divisions-cum-secretariat system. Each member of the Authority heads disaster-specific divisions for specific disaster and functional domains. The NITI Aayog is a policy think tank of the Government of India, established in 2015 to replace the Planning Commission. NITI Aayog aims for the actualization of the Sustainable Development Goals in India and to enhance cooperative federalism by fostering the involvement of State Governments of India in the economic policy-making process using a bottom-up approach.
