Ballast water samples testing service Our mission is to build confidence in ballast water treatment. We supplies the service of testing performance of your ballast water treatment system. Since October 2019, IMO standards have set out a Code for approval of ballast water management systems (BWMS Code), which states that all Ballast Water Management Systems have to be tested in accordance with this Code. DHSI ( Dalian Harbor and Shipping Inspection Technology Co, Ltd ) follows the guidelines exactly, to ensure all testing and approvals are up to the code. As of December 2013, any vessel sailing in the US needs to comply with the Vessel General Permit (VGP) rules. These rules were issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the USA. As required in these rules, all ballast water on vessels sailing in the US need to be sampled and analyzed on two different occasions in the first year after installation, and then once or twice per year, each year, thereafter. Water samples for these tests should be taken from the ballast water discharge, and tested for Vibrio cholerae. Coli and Enterococci. Samples must be taken 3 times in the first 10 discharge events, and then twice per year thereafter. Once a BWMS has been installed, it is required to be tested on-board before being used, to show compliance with the Standard D-2 testing rules. DHSI will take the necessary samples and analyze them for organisms, to ensure the control limits in the water is monitored, treated, and never exceeded.
