International Christian University High School
ICUHS was established at the request of the Japanese Ministry of Education to cater to the needs of returnee students, i.e. Japanese students who have lived and studied overseas. Such students often have difficulty fitting back into the Japanese education system. ICUHS provides a supportive environment for them and over the years has accepted returnees from more than 100 countries. Over 65% of the students in every grade are returnees. They study alongside the 35% who have received all their education in Japan through the Japanese education system. For both types of student, entering ICUHS is very competitive. Everest English School
Our mission is to change Japanese English education. Everest is an English School started in 2015, and now we we have two locations, Bunkyo-ku and Setagaya-ku. We want to provide the best learning solution to age 7 to 16 years old mainly, and expand students opportunities in their life. A lot of people in Japan are still struggling speaking English fluently. It has two main reasons. One, Japanese education system is for only entering examination. They think about getting good score on the test rather than practical English skill. A lot of English learning business here is for their own business not to improve students' English skill. As a result, so many people in Japan cannot speak English fluently. We would like to provide the best English learning solution. We believe using English everyday will make it easier for students to acquire their English skill. So we made a hybrid learning system which consist of learning offline(classroom) and online (diary and skype lesson) to make it their habit. Our strength 1. English learning system (to make it habit) 2. 7 stages of conversational method 3. 180 lists of curriculum Customer benefit 1. Their life changes to use English every day 2. Enough time to speak English with native speakers in the lesson 3. Students will be able to acquire how to speak in different situation every week Proof 1. Acquire Eiken certificate pre-1st grade in two years in 1st grade of junior high school. Acquire Eiken certificate 2nd grade in two years starting in 5th grade of elementary school. Now, we are growing and trying to expand 10 locations in 2020. Currently, we have about 20 members, and we would like to meet talented people more.

Japan Council Of International Schools
The Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS) includes twenty-nine international schools operating in Japan. However, each school exists completely independently of the others. Schools applying for membership to JCIS must meet a number of important criteria including stability, continuity, professionalism and an explicit commitment to internationalism. Education must be provided in English. Beyond that, however, there are no requirements concerning curriculum, ethos or ownership. Some schools offer programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Others offer an education rooted to a greater or lesser degree in a national curriculum. Some schools offer a full ‘Kindergarten to Grade 12’ education while others specialize on certain age groups. The smallest JCIS member school has fewer than 100 students and the largest has more than 1,500. The heads of member schools meet twice a year – usually in September and March/April. Meetings are held at member schools: once a year in the Tokyo region and once elsewhere in Japan. A President (Chair), Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are elected by, and from among, the heads of member schools. On a day-to-day basis, heads of JCIS schools communicate with each other regarding matters of common interest such as changes in employment legislation, appropriate precautions to take against pandemics (bird ‘flu, swine ‘flu), experience (good and bad) of service providers, and so on. In 2011 member schools liaised closely and very valuably in the aftermath of the Tohoku tragedy. Opportunities are also taken to share the cost of visiting speakers or performers with neighbouring schools, to coordinate PD initiatives, to bring together specialist staff and to support schools introducing new curriculums or programmes. JCIS is a collegial and collaborative organization which exists for the betterment of all international schools in Japan to the benefit of the parents who choose them and the children who attend them.

Thank you for reading. When we think about what is the meaning of being born and lead our lives, it is said that we live to learn and grow. I never thought of that kind of things in my mischievous teenager and in my twenty’s when I was curious about many things. However when I became in my thirty’s, I learned various things in a book that I took in hand by chance. The book said everybody and anybody had a reason to exist once they were born in this world. Through lifelong learning, the true meanings of life that they are to fulfill become clear. The book was easy for me to understand and showed three guiding principles: being honest, positive and studious. Honesty literary means to humbly take what others say without judging with a bias. Being positive indicates an attitude when you cope with something. I try to always put smile on. Being studious in the book doesn’t refer only to learn academically but to be curious and enthusiastic about everything including your way of thinking and way of being. These are just simple words but Shoin Yoshida who I deeply respect also taught the same principles. We hope we can make our group matured to contribute to you to learn and grow. Thank you.
