Climathon Egyptian Cities 2023

Climathon is a global conference and a competition under the auspices of the EU. Its main goal is to raise awareness on climate action and empower local citizens by providing free capacity building and technical assistance to teams of 3-5 members with an innovative project/solution to a local climate challenge. This year, EC4SDF partnered with Climate-Kic, the European Union’s Climate Innovation Initiative, to execute Climathon Egypt Series 2022; a large-scale plan to hold a number of Climathons in many governorates/cities across Egypt in order to try and reach as many underrepresented locations and groups of people as possible. Climathon Egypt Series will take place in different cities/governorates across Egypt and consists of a series of green events (running marathons, reforestation campaigns, etc.) followed by capacity building sessions and main events/conferences to showcase participating teams’ projects as well as seminars and talks by reputable experts and speakers in the field. This is followed by a competition where a panel of experts will judge the best projects and qualify them for the national competition across Egypt (prior to COP27) and then, the global competition to win and secure funding and awards to execute their innovative ideas on-ground.
