Director of Education Oral Historian at Sephardi Voices

About

On the record

I am a freelance Oral historian and documentary film-maker, specialising in documenting life stories, community histories and personal testimony. I have a professional background in news and current affairs, working on the daily news addition for the Israel Broadcasting Association and on documentary productions. I am accountable for the delivery of a wide range of Oral History and Heritage Lottery funded productions, including working with communities, museums, schools, charities and families. My main expertise lies in delivering personal testimony projects, producing filming days, building community archives, winning bid proposals, recruiting volunteers, facilitating media training courses and forming long term cultural partnerships with institutes such as Yad Vashem: World Centre of Holocaust Research, The British Library, The Migrant and Refugee Committee Forum, Sephardi Voices UK and The Hanging Out project. Passionate about combining personal testimony in Education, I have initiated and facilitated Digital Histories workshops. These workshops teach and assist youths and adults in using media skills to share, record and value life stories and help facilitate ways of promoting co-existence and increased understanding between communities and individuals. My projects capture personal experiences of the past in the eyes of the present. I document the personal experiences, memories, feelings, aspirations and histories of people who want to share their journey. Concentrating on Identity, migration and family history. Lately, I have embarked on a new initiative: “Business Story Telling” helping organisations and companies document their unrecorded histories and providing them with a platform to document their histories and tell their company story on their own terms.
