About
On the record
Early on, I was inspired and fascinated by biology and chemistry in high school – deepest gratitude to my wonderful teacher! I decided to dig deeper and studied chemistry at Tartu University in Estonia and Tübingen University in Germany. Soon enough it became evident that my heart belongs to biochemistry and my PhD I completed in prof. Ago Rinken Lab studying cellular signaling. To resolve signaling events even better in time and space I turned to fluorescence lifetime microscopy and moved to one of the best places in the world to do so, I conducted my postdoctoral research at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in prof. Kees Jalink Lab. And yet my academic experience, skills and knowledge longed to be complemented by something else, something exciting, challenging and meaningful in a new way … Right after the world had changed and somewhat recovered from the Covid19 pandemic, I decided to join Solis BioDyne, a strong biotech company in Estonia. A company producing polymerases and reverse transcriptases - enzymes that lie in the heart of so many molecular diagnostic tests and other various applications. Here, I feel that I contribute my wider view and organizing skills to reach goals in a team great of scientists with the mutual aim to bring the biochemical reagents to the right clients and ultimately, in the form of products and services to ordinary people. As for a scientist, that’s enough for me – I love what I do and by working together with talented people, I really feel that our efforts are worthwhile.
