About
On the record
I am a teacher of History with Geography with full Qualified Teacher Status since 2014, although I have experience of working with young people in a wider range of contexts for a longer period of time. I have taught the AQA GCSE, Cambridge iGCSE and Edexcel iGCSE syllabuses at Key Stage 4 and both the depth and breadth study components of the AQA syllabus at Key Stage 5. I am skilled in using ICT in my planning, delivery and as a means of tracking student progress in order to enhance my teaching and the learning of students. My degree attained at the University of Leeds highlights my excellent subject knowledge, as well as my ability to balance academic work with other interests. This is further exemplified by my desire to keep developing in this area as I am currently undertaking an online-distance MSc in History through the University of Edinburgh. My PGCE, provided by the University of Oxford, provided me with the best possible training to teach my field in a student centred and innovative manner and to develop a personalised ethos within the profession based on experimentation, research and reflection. I have a range of interests outside of my subject area and a strong belief in serving my local community, which has led me to volunteer my time to support these interests, both in school provided extracurricular activities and by becoming involved in local community organisations, such as Scouting, community football and youth groups.
