International philanthropist and impact investor; Silicon Valley corporate attorney, advisor and venture investor (mostly in tech and real estate). Present Engagement. In 2011, I founded The Village Link, a nonprofit organization. TVL operates in Sierra Leone, West Africa. We introduce off-grid technology for economic development, education and entrepreneurship. I also advise early-stage and emerging tech companies, social entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations in Silicon Valley and elsewhere in the world. Corporate Law Experience. In 2007, I co-founded VLP Law Firm. Before VLP, I founded Armor Legal Counsel, a boutique law firm that represented tech companies in corporate transactions and financings. Prior to Armor, I was General Counsel, in charge of all legal affairs, at Benefit Street, a fin-tech company. From 1996 to 2002, I practiced corporate law with the firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. At WSGR, I handled corporate securities transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private financings and public offerings. In 1995, I received my J.D. from Stanford Law School. International Development and Teaching. Prior to studying and practicing law, I taught school and worked in development in Alaska, China and West Africa. I lived in a Yupik Eskimo village near the Bering Sea, lectured at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui, PRC and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Sierra Leone. I grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
