About
On the record
I am currently managing a Canadian fly-in fishing lodge in summers and providing agricultural advisory services in Haiti during winters. Previously, I was in senior management at the Heineken owned Brasserie National d’Haiti (BRANA)where I established a sustainable local sorghum supply chain, commissioned a seed cleaning and processing facility and set up a partnership with Université Quisqueya Ag College to give students more opportunities for on-farm research and practical training. Working in UNDP, USAID and privately funded projects, I managed hurricane debris cleanup and restoration teams in Haiti and the Bahamas. I have served on the Boards of private and public sector agriculture companies and organizations, worked for Provincial and Federal Cabinet Ministers, and run national ag policy and trade associations. Have a large network within the farm community, agricultural associations and with the private sector. Politics - I worked in Opposition, Government, and in a Coalition Government. I also worked as political staff for the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, and for the President of Treasury Board and Minister responsible for Canadian Wheat Board. I have owned my own farm and pedigreed seed cleaning and processing business in Canada for many years working with canola, flaxseed, canary seed, peas, lentils, wheat, oats, barley, canola, corn, soybeans and forage. I have also done agricultural development work to build sustainable smallholder farms and value chains in numerous African, Central American, Caribbean and Asian countries.
