Dongkeun is a Policy Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Leadership Forum. He also recently submitted his PhD dissertation at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University. Before joining academia, he served for three years in the Republic of Korea Navy as an intelligence officer. During his active-duty service, his postings were mainly in military diplomacy positions, including serving as a foreign liaison officer at ROKN Headquarters. Dongkeun has a multinational background. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics & International Relations and Asian Studies from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a Master of Global Affairs & Policy degree from Yonsei University, South Korea. Dongkeun’s main research interest is international relations in the Indo-Pacific, with a focus on maritime security. His work has been featured in multiple scholarly and policy outlets, such as Marine Policy, ORF, and The Asan Forum. Dongkeun can be reached at leedk@apln.network.
