The collision of the food industry and Tech is happening right now, right before our eyes. After four decades in the food industry with manufacturers and distributors where I was front-and-center to the painful acts that played out in the drama of doing business, I believe there is better way. Not to abandon our rich history and traditions, but to ask ourselves “What brings value?”, and then eliminate what doesn’t. Recent FDA FSMA regulations requiring a digitally connected supply chain, consumer demand for more information about their food, the advancements in technology and a scarcity of labor that won’t let us continue to be inefficient, these all scream for the application of technological answers.
