Mr Thembinkosi Simo Z••• holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (with majors in Economics and Political Science), a Bachelor of Social Science Honours and a Master of Social Science in Policy and Development Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management in the field of (Public and Development Sector Monitoring and Evaluation) from the Wits School of Governance (WSG) at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Simo also holds a Certificate in African Political Economy (with Distinction) from the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public & International Affairs (TM-School) at the University of South Africa (UNISA). Simo Z••• is a policy analyst, researcher and a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specialist. Simo is a Deputy Director: Monitoring and Evaluation at the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (KZN-EDTEA). He is currently responsible for the M&E of Departmental programmes and projects as well as M&E of the 12 public entities (SOEs) under the KZN-EDTEA portfolio. Before that Simo was a Deputy Director: Policy and Evaluation at the national Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), where he provided policy development support and managed evaluations as well as the Socio-Economic Impact Assessment System (SEIAS) in the Department. Prior to that Simo was an Assistant Director: Strategic Planning at the Department of Military Veterans (DMV). Simo has extensive experience in policy development and coordination, strategic planning, research, M&E and reporting. Simo Z••• is a One Young World Ambassador. The OYW is a global network of young socially committed individuals with leadership potential helping them drive positive change in their communities, companies and countries. In 2017, Simo was named one of 100 Brightest Young Minds in Africa. The BYM is a non-profit organization which aims to create social, cultural and economic progress by mobilizing Africa's most innovative young leaders. In 2022, Simo was selected to participate in the Inaugural Emerging Leaders in Public Service (ELIPS) Programme by the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA). Simo Z••• is a PhD Candidate at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
