About

On the record

An award-winning educator and dedicated community advocate, I bring over two decades of experience at the intersection of education, social justice, and grassroots activism. With academic foundations in journalism, education, and social justice studies, my work is driven by a passion for transformative learning and systemic change. My teaching practice is rooted in trauma-informed care, anti-oppressive frameworks, and academic literacies and extends beyond the classroom into community spaces, where I have spent years engaging in activism, public education, and youth mentorship. I’ve organized local campaigns for gender equity and led community initiatives to address gender-based violence, driven by an enduring commitment to justice and equity. I have led curriculum development and facilitation in both public education and higher education, designing programs that are accessible, inclusive, and evidence-based. In 2020, I received Wilfrid Laurier University’s Donald F. Morgenson Award for Teaching Excellence, recognizing the inclusive and collaborative learning environments that were cultivated in support of Indigenous students and students facing academic challenges. I am deeply committed to building a future where education is a tool for liberation and collective well-being.
