Guta is a curator, a cultural catalyst and strategic designer, internationally known for her innovative projects where she combines vision, culture and economy. Actively engaged in the international design community as a curator, creative director, strategist and critical thinker since the early 90’s, she has integrated several high-profile international committees and juris. She runs events and exhibition projects in the area of design, architecture and contemporary art, working also as a consultant, as a teacher and as a speaker at debates and conferences in the area of design, contemporary creativity and strategic development. She writes about design, culture and communication and she worked in television hosting a TV talk show entitled “ Visible Cities”, focusing on culture and creative practices in contemporary urban contexts. She co-founded the cultural association Experimenta in Lisbon in 1998, of which has been Chairwoman since From until 2017 she created and dedicated herself to the Lisbon Biennale, experimentadesign, as co-curator and Director, positioning the portuguese capital in the international circuit of cultural events. In 2022 she co-founded Terrafoundation, a collaborative international cultural platform working to balance the relationships amongst humans, and between humanity and planet Earth, being its Artistic Director. She was Director of the Fundação Casa da Música and was named Administrator of the Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém, the most important cultural institution in Portugal, by the Portuguese Government. As a curator and cultural catalyst Guta has been always obsessed with exploring different kinds of media and materials, as well as with the power of interdisciplinarity, networking and communication. She has curated numerous major exhibitions around the world, both in interior or in outside spaces, like “Flexibility: Design inf Fast Changing Society” (Torino), “Common Sense” (São Paulo; Basel) “Voyager” (Milano; Barcelona; Paris; Madrid), Set in Stone (London), Expanded (Venice, 58th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale), among many others.
