About
On the record
After 15+ years of being head of the Cyber Incident Response Team in the academic network in LITNET CERT (Lithuania), I have joined the NRD Cyber Security, company with ambitious team and ambitious goals – to fix the internet, which seems being screwed up more and more often. Approach on “fixing” is to teach, spread ideas, share best practices and, most importantly, do the actual work, i.e. establish cybersecurity incident handling capabilities. Current my main responsibilities include Incident Response Capabilities building in countries around the world. The Incident Response Capabilities means different things - it's combination of policies, processes, people, and technology. Everywhere I go I see my objective to connect all these pieces into one well-balanced entity – CSIRT, SOC, providing cybersecurity services for their constituents, customers. Building CSIRTs is quite a challenging and interesting task as it requires mix of different skills, like management, process building, training, network designing, coding, computer forensics, cyber threat hunting, and when you bring together the skills, professionalism of the team, passion and energy, you can achieve perfect results. I really enjoy seeing how these results makes changes in the countries and influences the face of the internet itself. At least a bit of it. However, even smallest bit is already a huge achievement. I love seeing new environments, new countries, love taking challenges and leadership finding best ways how technologies, knowledge and people could create the most effective secure ecosystem for the organizations, states, countries. This is the main goal I am concentrating today. Areas of expertise: cyber security, analysis of security incidents, cyber incident handling, computer/network forensics, CSIRT management, CSIRT processes, training, system hardening, perl/python/php coding, TCP/IP networks, CSIRT process supporting tools.
