About
On the record
As a servant leader and with the help of an amazing team, I am proud to be responsible for- the first generation of female surfers in São Tomé island (Africa)- the first surf-therapy program dedicated exclusively for girls in Africa - the first national surf competition in São Tomé island, with a female participation and equal prizes - pioneering surf retreats as a social business model I believe these accomplishments represent the mission-driven person I am and also reflect the passionate person I can be while working under pressure and how I am driven by challenges and personal ethics. My life mission is based on two simple and yet complex global truths- Empowering women and girls is a key contributor to Africa’s economic development and essential to end poverty- Surfing is a direct major contributor to the economy of wave-rich places. Studies demonstrate that economic activity grows faster near good-quality surf breaks, particularly in developing countries; With that in mind I am dedicating my time to onboard untapped African communities and activate more African women into the world of surfing as a tool for sustainable development and as a way to promote mental health & wellness, gender equality, education and environmental consciousness. A qualified marketeer, amateaur surfer, excited about strategy and problem solving, passionate about human behavior, enthusiastic about social entrepreneurship, committed to women empowerment and devoted to Africa, these are the keys that move me to do more and better everyday!
