Dr. Ahmed A••• is the Regional Programme Director at CEDARE. Dr. A••• holds a B.Sc. of Civil Engineering from University of Alexandria and received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Decision analysis from Newcastle University, United Kingdom. He was also a visiting scholar in Arizona State University and Ohio State University in USA. Dr. A••• is an international expert and has conducted technical assistance for countries and organizations at the global, regional, sub-regional and national levels. He is the Chairman of Africa Data Group, and he was the Lead review editor for the United Nations’ sixth Global Environment Outlook process. He Chaired, the West Asia regional assessment for the United Nations Environment. He has 35 years of experience in the field of environmental policy analysis, climate change management, integrated environmental Assessment (EIA), Spatial analysis, Decision analysis, and Environmental Decision Support Systems. He gave input in the formulation and implementation of global and regional activities on environmental assessment, space technology applications, with main emphasis on climate change policies, Global, Regional and National state of the Environment Reporting, Climate change vulnerability assessment, development of global and regional environmental scenarios, development of national environmental strategies, policy and decision analysis, geographic information system, Decision Support Systems and remote sensing applications. He conducted policy research, studies and technical assistance to more than 27 countries. At the regional level, he was in charge of the development of the first Arab Environment outlook Report (AEOR). He was assigned by the UN Environment to manage the production of the Arab Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. Dr. A••• was in charge of developing the North Africa State of the Environment (SOE) and he was a main author and contributor for North Africa in the Africa Environment Outlook reports. He is a contributing author in the recent IPCC climate change 6th assessment report, At the national level, he assisted in developing a number of national SOE reports. This is in addition to teaching and supervising post graduate courses in climate change management and has numerous international publications in the field of climate change vulnerability assessment, Integrated environmental assessment, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Multi criteria Decision Analysis (MDA), Spatial Analysis and public participation in environmental decision-making.
