Site Project Manager Construction, cement plant construction. Available to fulfil worldwide assignments, stand-in caretaker for project site management on leave, R&R or illness. Operations Management within the automotive industry, experienced in manufacturing, production, assembly and delivery. 14 years in the project construction field as Site Project Manager. Co-ordinating site construction activities to program. From site establishment, construction, commissioning and handover. I have worked in the United Kingdom, Democratic Rep of the Congo, Kenya, South Africa, and Zimbabwe and Germany. Extensive experience living and working with Chinese construction contractors. 23 years Automotive manufacture, production and assembly. Operations Manager field in manufacturing and assembly with Volkswagen and Audi in Germany and South Africa. Then switched into the supplier network as Operations Manager for first tear OEM suppliers into the auto manufacturers including VW, Audi, BMW and Opel. Managerial responsibilities: Project management and resources planning, QMS, Production, QA and control, Capacity planning, Procurement, Inventory stock control, Process optimisation and shop floor layout, Material requirements planning, Productivity initiatives and the Elimination of waste, Maintenance, Customer services, Supplier development. Functions needed for a successful team to deliver any project on time, safely and within budget. My experiences in Africa, the cultures, my ability to speak some of the languages has been advantageous with the stakeholder requirements, dealing with local government, traditional tribal, local council structures and the workforce. The project in the Congo was an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) for a cement plant with the Chinese company Sinoma International, Beijing. The Chinese presented challenges and opportunities as their ‘way of doing things’ does agreeing with ‘western principles’. A good learning.
