Research Intern at Te Puna Vai Mārama Cook Islands Centre For Research

About

On the record

As a recent graduate of Development Studies with distinction I am utilising my passion for making the environment and society exist more harmoniously by interning with Te Puna Vai Marama Cook Islands Centre for research in Rarotonga. As a researcher I am looking at the carrying capacity of island states with regard to tourism and the impacts of mining in the Cook Islands. I have recently completed an internship with the UN’s International Organization for Migration in Suva, Fiji with the Pacific Climate Change Migration and Human Security Team. Here I supported the implementation of the Pacific Regional Framework on Climate Mobility looking at the intersection of climate change's impacts on migration, planned relocation, displacement and staying in place. My experiences in Fiji and the Cook Islands are supported by the New Colombo Plan Scholarship, Australia’s most prestigious undergraduate scholarship.
