I’m a lawyer, with degrees in Law and Political Science (2006) from the University of Siena. I’ve been in philanthropy since 2003 as a senior programme officer at Institutional Activities Department and then at Strategic Planning, Project & Programme Development Department. At the beginning of the I worked as a Lawyer in private law firms and was a University Assistant Lecturer without a contract in Private Law and Legal Medicine and Insurance Rights. I also worked in the life science sector for two years (2012-2013), being the Legal and Corporate Governance Officer of an SME biotech company (Siena Biotech), in one of my most challenging (personally) and frustrating (in terms of results) job experience. In 2013, I founded with other colleagues a start-up company in the biomedical sector. In 2015 I was the petition starter of two international petitions about food waste, that contribute to enacting Italian law on the topic. Currently, I’m the Head of Programs at Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena (FMPS), a philanthropic institution operating under private law which pursues sustainable community development with an annual budget of 10 million Euros. I manages operating and grant-making activities as well as strategic planning in three areas: Art and Culture, Welfare, and Research and Sustainable Development. I was and, currently, am a member of some boards of directors, steering committees and working groups of some companies, associations, networks and initiatives/programs. Since 2021 I’m a pro-bono consultant at The Life You Can Save, a non-profit organization funded by Peter Singer on the issue of effective altruism. In 2023 I was Senior International Fellows at the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, designing a project and writing a position paper on “Bold Philanthropy and the “What If” paradigm”. In 2024 I was appointed advisory committee member of Philea. I’m passionate about food system/environmental issues, sustainable development and civil society engagement/multi-stakeholders collaboration themes.
