Director, Operations at Efficiency Canada

About

On the record

I never set out to “work in operations.” My career has always centered on climate action and energy efficiency, contributing to programs like #RisingYouth and Green Schools Nova Scotia that helped young people and communities step into leadership on systemic issues. Over time, I realized what drew me in wasn’t just the what, but the how: how to create spaces where people feel supported, connected, and energized to do their best work. Today, as Director of Operations at Efficiency Canada, I focus on exactly that: • Strengthening systems and project management to make priorities clearer and execution smoother. • Introducing process automation so the basics run reliably in the background. • Supporting culture change that makes transparency the default and teams more resilient. • Grounding change in real feedback and team needs, improving things iteratively so progress is steady and visible. • Designing participatory workshops, leading remote teams, and building tailored operational practices that connect everyday work to strategic goals. My aim is to shape a remote HQ that’s curious, experimental, and people-first — where culture and structure reinforce each other so our team can make the biggest impact without burning out. One of the experiences I’m most proud of is the seven years I spent building Let’s Sprout, a youth-led space for exploration, creativity, and action. In my early career as an emergent leader, it taught me lessons I carry forward today: • Create spaces for all: equity requires relationships across the full spectrum of identity and experience. • You don’t have to be an expert: curiosity and community can take you further than credentials alone. • Burn it to the ground: when something isn’t serving people, pause or pivot to make way for what does. • Compensation is okay: youth (and everyone) deserve fair value for their time and contributions. • 🤝 Step in, step back: trust your team; knowing when to lead and when to support leads to great solutions. I’m passionate about building organizations that work for people, not the other way around. If you love to geek out about org design, culture, or remote work — let’s connect
