I followed a dream I was unaware of and it has become the gift that keeps on giving. My end goal is simple: I want to take pride in my work product and feel inspired every day. Fun fact: when I was about to wrap up my MBA, I panicked at the thought of never learning new things. So I enrolled in a Computer Science Bachelor’s Program. Some may call me crazy, I like to think of it as constantly bettering myself. I worked in Procurement for a couple of years and it was hard, I kid you not! Supply chain management issues, logistics nightmares, local legal requirements and everything else you can think of; you name it, I probably went through it. One day, the opportunity to work in a completely new domain dropped in my lap, and I jumped on the chance to become an IT Business Analyst for a software startup. Today, Fohlio is one of the fastest-growing platforms in the AEC industry. Fearless? Maybe. A bit reckless starting over from scratch in a new industry? Some would say. What convinced me to do it? I was yearning for a culturally diverse environment, a thought-provoking project, an equal-opportunities workplace and a career where I could best use my most valuable skills (analytical mindset, accuracy, puzzle-solving, strategic approach to complex problems) and still pursue my passions. I don’t regret my decision for one minute. Turns out, my role became pivotal in taking Fohlio to where it is today: a fast-growing startup poised to take over the construction industry. I found my place and it’s a great feeling, that of belonging. Being in a Product Management/Project Management/Operations role is what I love: the meetings, the communication, the empathy, the decision making process, the strategic goal setting, growing people into better roles, the organizing and scheduling, the problem-solving and the creativity that goes into finding the right solution fit, the data science to back up assumptions. I aim to promote a just collaborative environment, while striving to bridge gaps between colleagues, achieve leadership alignment and get crucial stakeholder buy-in. At the end of the day, making other peoples’ lives better is my strongest motivation and finding inspiration around me is a blessing.
