I am often asked:"How do you say this in English?","Can you translate that for me? As you can guess, that's because I am a translator. Ironically, I had a hard time understanding languages at first, but I had the opportunity to live in the U.S, where I learned and lived the language. Since then, English has always been my passion. It is for that reason that, upon discovering my passion for languages, I decided to study Linguistics and English Literature at university with the idea of becoming a Translator. Years later, I enrolled to the Master's program in Translation, where I learned the theoretical and ethical aspects and technologies involved in the profession. Then, I began my career as an assistant and teacher at Language Institutes, teaching Spanish-English translation workshops, and courses on Audiovisual Translation and translation and computer technologies for translators, in which I transferred my knowledge in translation techniques, strategies and practices, to encourage students to take a broader view. In my 10 years of professional practice, I have provided services to Chilean and foreign individuals and entities, specializing in Law, Finance, Accounting/Auditing, Engineering, IT, Pharmaceuticals, Health, Journalism and Tourism. During this time, I have also been able to cover other services, such as video Subtitling, Software and Website Localization, Liaison interpreting in client meetings and conference calls, as well as linguistic annotation for Natural Language Generation (NLG). Furthermore, my main collaborators and clients have highlighted my proofreading skills aimed at content accuracy, clarity and message tone, along with my research skills and long-term mindset, which is reflected in the development and compilation of glossaries and other language resources for future work. Currently, I am at the forefront of new technologies by learning Artificial Intelligence and programming in PYTHON in order to create my own models to process larger amounts of information in less time, such as Custom Machine Translation models, which allow delivering solutions to the needs of different production sectors, with special emphasis on sustainable ventures.
