I have experience and expertise in employment, immigration and occupational health and safety law. I formulate and develop employment contracts and termination agreements, and advise on the implementation of employment related policies and procedures. I advise clients regarding work stoppage instructions, occupational exposure limits and applications for exemption from the provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act (“MHSA”) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”). I represent clients in health and safety inquires pursuant to fatalities and has experience conducting health and safety due diligences in respect of compliance with the MHSA and OHSA. I also frequently assist and advise clients in the resolution of labour disputes such as unfair discrimination, unfair dismissals and unfair labour practices under the Labour Relations Act ("LRA") and the Employment Equity Act. I advise in collective bargaining, strike management, retrenchments under sections 189 and 189A of the LRA and the consequences of business transfers in terms of section 197 of the LRA. I have made numerous appearances in the Labour Court, Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (“CCMA”) and bargaining councils.
