About
On the record
I am a physician and medical scientist specializing in General Internal Medicine and General Practice, currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of General Medicine at a university hospital. My clinical work spans outpatient care, emergency medicine, and inpatient management, alongside leadership in building and expanding general medicine programs and training systems for medical students and residents. I received advanced training in public health, clinical epidemiology, and evidence-based medicine at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, and earned a doctoral degree in medicine. I played a central role in establishing a new School of Public Health, successfully leading its accreditation process, and subsequently served as Dean, overseeing education, research development, and organizational management. In addition, I worked as a medical officer at a Japanese embassy in Africa, engaging in clinical care, public health activities, and international coordination, thereby gaining practical experience in global health and health diplomacy. My research focuses on clinical epidemiology, chronic disease management, integrated care, and healthcare quality assessment. I have authored more than 250 peer-reviewed English-language medical publications and have been listed among the world’s top 2% of researchers based on citation impact. I also serve on international journal editorial boards and participate in global collaborative projects, including OECD-related initiatives. My professional mission is to integrate clinical practice, research, and education to cultivate globally minded, community-oriented physicians and to bridge academic medicine with regional healthcare systems.
