About

On the record

My 26 years of experience in fisheries research and monitoring, applied biology, facilitation, and negotiation has earned me the reputation of an international fisheries expert with extensive experience in fish population and life-history research and monitoring. I currently represent large water coalitions, private corporations, city and county governments, and environmental groups on a variety of fisheries and water resource management issues. Internationally my clients and partners include the U.S. State Department, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), The Asia Foundation, and others. I have advised and worked with various politicians and their staff on fisheries issues, including U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, California State Senators Tom McClintock and Tom Berryhill, U.S. Representative Jeff Denham, and others at both the state and county levels. I have testified before the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington D.C, the California State Legislature on two occasions, and regularly appear before the California State Water Resources Control Board. I have authored/co-authored multiple technical reports pertaining to a variety of fisheries monitoring efforts, and regularly speak at scientific and legal symposia. See for more.
