I have a combined work experience of more than 15 years in the field of aquatic animal health in both, private and public sectors. As backgorund, I worked for more than 8 years as Head of a Laboratory of Fish and Shellfish diseases diagnosis in Chile, studying a wide range of aquatic farmed species. During that period, I also conducted several training sessions to Aquaculture companies, government agencies and Universities, with topics varying form fish and shellfish biology, pathology of aquatic organisms, disease control and prevention. I finished my postgraduate in fish immunology at The University of Queensland in 2012 then I worked in the Biosecurity Intelligence Unit (BIU) at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in Queensland Government and as Causal academic staff for different courses within the Faculty of Sciences and the School of Biological Sciences at The University of Queensland. Once returned to my home country I led Aquagestion's Animal Health Division and its 3 laboratories in Southern Chile until I took over the new R&D Area in September 2015, as part of the company's strategic plan to increase productivity and competitivity across all its Divisions: Animal Health, Environment, Food Safety, Chemistry and Chromatography. More recently, in 2016 I started on the role of Executive Director of 2 FIE funded programs run by SERNAPESCA with a total budget of USD 30 millions. Both iniciatives aiming to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of Chilean salmon aquaculture by enhancing the management of the sector through science based decisions. Currently I an participating in 2 projects at The Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso:"Science and Innovation for 2030" and Consortium for the Development of Oceanic Aquaculture" as well as providing technical assitance to a range of other projects and iniciatives as part of my consultancy role.
