Having been employed with Brammo Inc, they taught me how to inspect parts in their quality department. The attention to detail when inspecting parts gave me insight on how to help engineers assess problems as they would occur in a production environment. These would then be later reviewed during weekly meetings. Also, the process of documenting parts so co-workers later down the road could follow my processes and actions taken. For Sierra Pacific Industries part of my job would be to diagnose 480-volt equipment such as actuators in the production of lumber. As actuators would malfunction, I would document the malfunction then converse with the manufacture to understand the problem. Once the problem had been determined, a course of action was developed to rectify the issue. Next, I would report to my manager about the process that needed to be updated and parts that needed to be ordered. My effective communication skills have allowed me to build relationships with people having different roles and various departments. This skill has been greatly beneficial with my current senior project to connect business and engineering to work cohesively together on the completion of our wind turbine for the Department of Energy. Other areas also include ministry work which gave me ability to start conversations with people I have never meet before. To create a point of commonality with people of different ideologies and backgrounds.
