About
On the record
I am a counselling psychologist and am passionate about my work. I work integratively, underpinned by a relational and Humanist approach and see adult and teenage clients with a range of presenting issues in Buckinghamshire and also in Highgate, London. I also specialise in equine-assisted psychotherapy and coaching, and I facilitate corporate training and individual or group therapeutic programmes using equine-assisted learning, with colleagues. I see clients for equine-assisted work in Buckinghamshire. I have a background in child development and I also work with Felicity Bertin, a paediatric osteopath, to run workshops and consultations on weaning and fussy eating as one half of Yummy Discoveries. With Felicity, I am co-author of the forthcoming book "Yummy Discoveries - Worry Free Weaning"(to be released November 2014 by Robert Hale Ltd), which promotes our holistic, evidence-based approach to weaning rooted in attachment theory and prioritising the relationship between child and parent and parenting around food as the key to successful weaning and preventing fussy eating. My doctoral thesis was qualitative research on counselling psychologists' experiences of working with adults with learning disabilities and I have also undertaken quantitative research at Master's level on maternal parenting and adolescent emotion regulation, which was published in the peer-reviewed journal: Child: Care, Health and Development in 2012. In my previous life, I was a singer/songwriter and am a lifelong horse owner. I trained with a horse-whisperer in South Africa between 2008-2010 and have experience in re-training traumatised horses, as well as working with horses to provide coaching/therapy to clients, as mentioned above.
