John D••• is an accomplished legal scholar and practitioner specialising in energy law, petroleum law, mineral law and policy, and indigenous land rights. He is currently completing his Ph.D. at the University of Dundee. With a robust academic foundation (LLM, Diploma in Legal Studies, LLB) and extensive fieldwork experience, he bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical policy solutions for extractive industries. His work focuses on: Land Rights & Extractive Industries: Developing legal protections for indigenous communities affected by oil, gas, and mining operations. Sustainable Resource Governance: Advocating for transparent, conflict-sensitive policies in Africa’s energy sector. Interdisciplinary Research: Merging law, economics, and social justice to address systemic inequities. Deng’s research and advocacy are driven by a commitment to justice, accountability, and community empowerment in resource-rich regions.
