Legal Officer at Transmission System Operator - Cyprus

About

On the record

I have studied at the University of Cyprus in the Faculty of Law department with parallel studies (minor) in the political science department, since I believe that these two disciplines are connected and can give a more complete picture of the world. In 2016 I graduated having achieved a place among the best of my year while also finishing my minor in Political Science. In September 2016, I joined the postgraduate program of International Relations of the University of Cyprus with a scholarship, where I was given the opportunity to develop relationships with universities and researchers from abroad. My Diploma in MA in International Relations is a highlight of my career in academia as it received a series of awards and distinctions giving me the opportunity to continue my studies at PhD level with a full scholarship. In connection with the above I mention that, my book entitled "Where are you from?" is part of the school curriculum and secondary education school libraries from 9/2021. Subsequently, as a lawyer - legal advisor, I specialize in trade and energy issues since 2019 as a scientific associate/advisor to the president of the trade committee of the House of Representatives. A position with many responsibilities but also opportunities for a young person to learn and deal with important areas of economics and legal science. Thus, all the legislations of the state concerning companies, trade, energy, tourism and industry are passed and processed by the trade committee and by extension the team of lawyers that we work there. My area of expertise due to my extensive exposure is energy. The most important legislations that I have dealt with a decisive contribution were, the legislation on the electricity market (establishment and operation of the companies, the framework of CERA, trade union issues of energy workers, proposals to promote competition between new electricity producers and of the Cyprus Electricity Authority et al.), amendment of competition law (with extensive contact on the issues of "patent", dominant position and unfair competition in the energy sector, consumer protection (contracts and abusive clauses) and the legislations concerning CYGAS. I would like to mention in passing that my contact with the above legislation gave me the opportunity, in addition to the legal knowledge I acquired, to develop skills in relation to data analysis and bridging gaps in order to achieve the desired result.
