About
On the record
I’m an Information System specialist passionate about the potential of innovation and technology applied to social change. I believe that there’s unlimited potential in using ICT to jump-start change in developing countries and that with well-coordinated effort, policies and a bit of selflessness, poverty, ignorance, malnutrition, corruption and others can be mitigated or even eliminated from human history. I want to be part of the solution! For just over a decade, I’ve been progressively giving my contribution on 3 fronts: Lecturing and researching: at Eduardo Mondlane University I teach Software development where I give all my enthusiasm to inspire the upcoming generation with the responsibility to think for themselves and be aware that their newly acquired skills are to be put at work in favour of fundamental problems of real people. I feel accomplished when I see them thinking locally and bring sustainable solutions. Managing projects and developing software: I work closely with the private sector to develop and deliver high impact Information Systems to governmental organizations and educations institutions. Among my best efforts are projects related to the implementation of Business Process Development, Workflows, Data Gathering and visualization strategies, Learning Management System and Business Simulation. Facilitation of entrepreneurship training: I had the blessing of co-founding (in 2011) the team that developed the first Mozambican Business Simulation platform. It is being used nationwide in higher education institutions and technical schools, with more than young already trained. Among them, some are already on the work market and others have started their own businesses. We are now eager to share this capacity-building solution with other developing countries and see other young people take ownership of this initiative and deliver maximum benefit to local communities. My favourite poet is Fernando Pessoa (from Portugal) and he wrote in 1926 (almost one century ago): “Systems, processes, vehicles, machines, are purely auxiliary elements. The real process is THINKING. The fundamental machine is INTELLIGENCE.” I COULDN’T AGREE MORE!
