I studied electrical and electronic engineering with in-service experience covering high voltage installations and related civil works, maintenance and repair of various electrical and electronic systems in sub-stations. The past five and a half years I have been dedicated to satellite systems engineering with a focus on satellite power systems, software for satellite subsystems and payloads as well as ground station software for retrieval of satellite data. I am currently employed in a Professional Development and Skills Retention (PDSR) programme at CPUT as a Development Engineer. I have recently been involved in the development of satellite payloads which includes the development of a custom Imager system as well as the software development for a software defined radio using a Zynq device. I am also interested in sub-station automation and the IEC 61850 standard, Process Control, Process Instrumentation, Control Systems, Protection Systems, Distribution Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Networking as well as Solar and Renewable Energy applications. I have been exposed to a wide range of skills required to be an effective problem solver. I also have a high aptitude for learning and am looking for positions that offer both a challenge and a good opportunity for growth in the Engineering Sector.
